Patient Experience

Service user involvement is part of everyday practice at Castlebeck. We enable the voices of individuals in our care to be heard and for them to be centrally involved in their care. This includes:

* Service users are involved in the recruitment and appraisal of staff * They are key to their own person-centred working and planning * There is advocacy at all services * Residents hold meetings * They are directly involved in 24:7 planning * Services have communication passports for service users * Involvement in financial management * Direct involvement of service users with support staff in the national "Strategy Unit" which is designed to give users and unit staff a clear voice in strategic and other issues.

Service User Involvement

A national Service User Forum (run by users themselves) for Castlebeck is held quarterly with feedback and suggestions reported through Clinical Governance for direct response. Regional forums also take place to ensure additional regular local forums. Positive responses and changes made as a result of user feedback include establishing a nutrition group and approving a medication work book.
