Wast Hills Sponsored Walk

Almost £100 has been raised for charity by John Cunningham, a service user at Wast Hills in Bromsgrove.

John, who lives in The Lodge at Wast Hills, decided to raise money through a sponsored walk, supported by Jacqueline Isaac, a nurse at Wast Hills.

She said: “John had discussed with myself how he enjoyed walking and in the past had completed a sponsored walk. We discussed whether he would like to try a sponsored walk and we did some research and found a sponsored walk for John to try.

“The sponsored walk was for Help the Aged and it was called The Big Spring Walk and involved John walking three miles over five days. We bought a stepometer so that the steps John walked were counted.”

After contacting Help the Aged, John was sent information including his sponsorship form. John then trained for over a month for the sponsored walk. Often in the mornings and afternoons. John would go for long walks around the grounds with the support of staff.

John independently collected sponsors from many people and after completing the walk collected the money. John raised £91.50.

Jacqueline said: “We’d like to say congratulations to John on completing his walk and raising such a lot of sponsorship.”
