Where we Are - North East

Whorlton Hall

Whorlton Hall is an acute service which offers assessment and intervention for 26 people with learning disabilities, challenging behaviour and complex needs.

The first Castlebeck service ever opened, more than 20 years ago, it provides a level of support for people who may previously have found it difficult to find services which could meet their needs.

Set in beautiful grounds and in a stunning County Durham village, people are encouraged to progress at their own pace, moving along their own individual care pathway into less acute services, both within and outside Castlebeck.

Patients are encouraged to take part in many activities using the ‘24.7’ system. This aims to enable people to structure their time; build relationships and establish a balance between work, self care and leisure. Individual plans are developed with each patient with the aim of working towards their individual outcomes.

Active work takes place within these programmes to enhance local contacts and a sense of belonging in the community. Where possible and appropriate, local community services are used for activities to support the development and independence of those in our facilities.
