Wast Hills Lodge
Wast Hills is Castlebecks latest specialist hospital for people with autism and The Lodge, which is seperate to the main house, has four residents.
On the outskirts of Bromsgrove, near Birmingham, Wast Hills House, together with its Lodge and Annexe, is situated in a quiet semi-rural location near Kings Norton, formerly part of the Cadbury Estate.
The centre, set in six acres of gardens, has been developed to provide specialist support and services for up to 28 adults on the autistic spectrum with associated complex needs.
The three elements making up the centre are:
- Wast Hills House – an 18-bedroom facility for people having a classic autism diagnosis
- The Lodge – a four-bedroom facility for people diagnosed as having Asperger Syndrome or high-functioning autism
- The Annexe – for up to six people requiring intensive therapy, treatment and support having complex autism conditions
The new facility, a former residence of the late William Adlington Cadbury and more recently a conference centre owned by the University of Birmingham, opened in late 2007.
