Wast Hills House

Wast Hills is Castlebeck’s latest specialist hospital for people with autism.

Wast Hills House, together with its Lodge and Annexe, is situated in a quiet semi-rural location near Kings Norton, formerly part of the Cadbury Estate near to Bromsgrove.

Set in six acres of gardens, it has been developed to provide specialist support and services for up to 28 adults on the autistic spectrum with associated complex needs.

The three elements making up the centre are:

  • Wast Hills House – an 18-bedroom facility for people with autism, a learning disability and challenging behaviour.

  • The Lodge – a four-bedroom facility for people diagnosed as having Asperger Syndrome or high-functioning autism
  • The Annexe – for up to six men requiring intensive therapy, treatment and support having complex autistic conditions and presenting with high levels of challenge and particularly significant difficulties with social engagement

The new facility, a former residence of the late William Adlington Cadbury and more recently a conference centre owned by the University of Birmingham, opened in late 2007.
