Oaklands

Oaklands in Hexham is the first Lifespan service from Castlebeck. It provides dedicated and skilled support for women and men who challenge services and who may also have additional needs.

Those needs might include long term mental health problems, developmental disorders (including people who are on the autistic spectrum) and a lower response rate to treatment, where a “slow stream” service would be more appropriate than treatment in another Castlebeck facility.

It also supports those who might need a higher level of specific support than could be provided in other rehabilitation services, people who become vulnerable due to increasing age and frailty or who experience reduced mobility or who have physical health problems which need extra medical and nursing input.

Lifespan services are nurse-led with consistent and dedicated support.

Oaklands itself is a beautiful high specification residential facility in the bustling market town of Hexham in the North of England. Open since 1991, it has a warm and welcoming feel, making it feel both homely and relaxing. The six different lounges are cozy and comfortable, and the gardens are spacious and accessible.

There are 25 bedrooms at Oaklands, all en-suite. Five of these are on the ground floor, making them accessible to those with physical disabilities.

Its setting allows people to balance access to the community with the opportunity to withdraw to a stimulus-modulated environment if a person needs to.
